Overview
Occasionally, a chat message may fail to produce a usable result and instead show a generic error such as "Something Went Wrong" or "Unknown Error". These messages indicate that the agent encountered an issue it could not recover from on its own.
This guide walks you through the steps to diagnose and resolve these situations.
Immediate Steps to Try
Before reaching out to support, try these quick steps:
- 1.Retry the message - Click the retry or resend button on the failed message. Transient issues often resolve on their own.
- 2.Refresh the page - Reload the editor in your browser and try sending the message again.
- 3.Undo recent changes - If the error started after a specific edit, use Undo (Cmd/Ctrl + Z) to revert to a known good state, then try again.
Restart the Editor Sandbox
The editor runs in a sandbox environment that can occasionally get into an errored state, causing chat messages to fail even when the prompt itself is valid. Restarting the sandbox clears this state and allows new changes to take effect.
To restart the sandbox:
- 1.Right-click the reload button in the top right section of the editor, next to the Publish button
- 2.Click Restart Sandbox from the context menu
- 3.Wait a moment for the sandbox to restart, then try your message again
Check for Patterns
Try to identify whether the error is reproducible:
- •Does it happen on every message, or only specific ones?
- •Does it happen on a specific page, or across all pages?
- •Did the error start after a particular change?
If the error only happens with certain types of requests (e.g., image generation, adding a new section), note that detail - it will help the support team diagnose the issue faster.
Try a Different Page
If the error is happening consistently on one page, try switching to a different page and sending a simple message (e.g., "Make the headline bold").
If that works, the issue may be specific to the original page's data or state. You can try:
- 1.Duplicating the affected page from the Pages menu
- 2.Working on the duplicate going forward
- 3.Reporting the original page issue to support@tryflint.com
